Privacy in arkeeper
Here we explain how arkeeper handles your content on your iPhone, and where the boundaries are. This text is a draft and does not replace a final privacy policy.
The archive on your iPhone
Content in the arkeeper archive — photos, videos, documents, audio recordings and notes — is stored encrypted locally on your iPhone.
Access requires your iPhone's authentication with Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode, depending on what your phone supports. You can choose an additional arkeeper code and extra codes for individual folders.
Sharing and export
When you share or export content, the copy leaves the archive and arkeeper can no longer control what happens to it.
When sharing photos, arkeeper can create a new JPEG without the original's location and camera metadata. This does not remove visible details in the image and does not apply to every file type.
Website data in the browser
The browser in arkeeper uses a website profile separate from Safari. Cookies and website data live in that profile and have a different storage boundary from encrypted archive items.
Websites, the accounts you sign in to, and network providers can still record your activity. arkeeper is not a VPN or an anonymization service.
Backup
Manual backups now include archive files, folders, notes and attachments, trash, protected-folder codes, saved browser bookmarks and saved logins. Older backups may not contain browser data.
Cookies, open browser pages and app settings are not included. Sign in to websites again after restoring. Keep the encrypted backup file and its separate recovery key; a lost key cannot be recovered.
